Frequently Asked Questions

Do you sell sourdough?
Yes! All of our bread is sourdough. Even our laminated pastries, like our croissants and danishes, are made with sourdough.

Do you have a slicer?
We do not have a bread slicer at this time. If you’re finding the hearty crust of the sourdough hard to cut through, we recommend putting your loaf in a plastic bag for a few hours. This helps makes the bread a bit softer, and easier to manage.

Is your bread gluten-free?
We do not bake any gluten-free bread at Birdies Bread Co.

Do you have anything gluten-free?
We try to have a few “gluten-free” offerings each day. Our Carrot-Apple-Flax muffin is a daily staple, and our Buckwheat Brownie is also a regular feature. While we can’t officially call them gluten-free because of the environment they’re baked in and the high risk of cross contamination, our gluten-sensitive friends seem to digest them well!

I have other dietary restrictions, are you able to accommodate them?
We try to be able to offer something for everyone at Birdies. If you have any questions about the ingredients or process of our baked goods, our staff are happy to answer them.

Did you just open? I’ve never noticed this spot before.
Birdies Bread Co. has been in its current home on Pleasant Street for 8 years (July 2025)! Prior to that, our bread was available for sale at the Alderney Farmers Market.

Can I eat my treats here?
We have a small amount of counter seating available at the front of the bakery. During the warmer months, we also set up a small outdoor seating area.

Can I place an order ahead of time?
All of our baked goods and retail items are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you’re hoping to pick up a particular item, we recommend coming as early in the day as your schedule allows!

I’ve tried calling, but I can’t seem to get through to someone on the phone. What’s up with that?
Birdies runs on a small but mighty team. Because of this, we’ve made the decision to make answering the phone a secondary concern when there are customers in the bakery. For burning questions and urgent matters, please send an email to orders@birdiesbreadco.com, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. Thanks for your understanding!

Do you sell sandwiches?
Yes! Rotating sandwich flavours are available in our retail fridge, Tuesday - Friday, from 11am until we sell out.

Breakfast sandwiches are available on Saturdays, from 9am until 1pm. Breakfast sandwiches are made hot to order, and may take up to 15 minutes, depending on how many orders are ahead of yours.
